Heys Lab Publishes Paper in Nature Neuroscience

Congratulations to Jim, the Heys lab and co-first authors Erin Bigus and Hyun-Woo Lee on the paper just published in Nature Neuroscience!

To survive, animals constantly keep track of time, but little is known about how the brain learns the temporal structure of experiences. In this study Bigus et al. found that the medial entorhinal cortex (MEC) is critical for this process, as time cells in the MEC exhibit context-dependent activity, allowing unique temporal patterns of stimuli to be differentiated by distinct trajectories of time cell activity.
